چکیده

A primary new capability of JWST is the ability to penetrate dust in star forming galaxies identify and study properties young clusters that remain embedded gas. In this paper we combine infrared images taken with our optical HST star-bursting barred (Seyfert2) spiral galaxy NGC 1365. We find has richest population massive any known within 30 Mpc, $\sim$ are more than 10$^6$ Msolar younger 10 Myr. Sixteen these newly discovered from observations. An examination reveals 4 ($\sim$13$\%$) so deeply they cannot be seen I band (AV $\gt$ mag), 11 ($\sim$37$\%$) missing B band, age mass estimates measurements alone challenging. These numbers suggest 1365 obscured visible for 1.3 $\pm$ 0.7 Myr, either completely or partially 3.7 1.1 also use observations gain insights into triggering cluster formation by collision gas streamers bar. The reveal previously unknown structures (e.g., bridges overshoot regions stars form bar) help us better understand orbital dynamics associated star-forming rings. Finally, note excellent spatial resolution NIRCAM F200W filter provides a way separate barely resolved compact individual based on their sizes.

Young massive star clusters: Achievements and challenges

In spite of significant recent and ongoing research efforts, most of the early evolution and long-term fate of young massive star clusters remain clouded in uncertainties. Here, I discuss our understanding of the initial conditions of star cluster formation and the importance of initial substructure for the subsequent dynamical-evolution and mass-segregation timescales. I also assess our curren...

Young and intermediate-age massive star clusters.

An overview of our current understanding of the formation and evolution of star clusters is given, with the main emphasis on high-mass clusters. Clusters form deeply embedded within dense clouds of molecular gas. Left-over gas is cleared within a few million years and, depending on the efficiency of star formation, the clusters may disperse almost immediately or remain gravitationally bound. Cu...

Evolution of X-ray emission from young massive star clusters

The evolution of X-ray emission from young massive star clusters is modeled, taking into account the emission from the stars as well as from the cluster wind. It is shown that the level and character of the soft (0.2-10 keV) X-ray emission change drastically with cluster age and are tightly linked with stellar evolution. Using the modern X-ray observations of massive stars we show that the corr...

Young massive star clusters in nearby galaxies ⋆

1 A detailed description is given of the data analysis leading to the discovery of young massive star clusters (YMCs) in a sample of 21 nearby galaxies. A new useful tool, ishape, for the derivation of intrinsic shape parameters of compact objects is presented, and some test results are shown. Completeness tests for the cluster samples are discussed, and ishape is used to estimate cluster sizes...

Young massive star clusters in M 51

A search for young massive star clusters (YMCs) in the nearby face-on spiral galaxy M51 (NGC 5194) has been carried out using UBV CCD images from the prime focus camera on the Lick 3 meter Shane telescope. The YMC population is found to be quite rich with a specific U -band luminosity TL(U) ∼ 1.4, consistent with the high current star formation rate of this galaxy. The brightest clusters have M...
